No, 5G Did NOT Cause The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

Now that the Coronavirus or COVID-19 is now here in the US, we are seeing many other people floating around conspiracy theories that 5G is responsible for the pandemic.
This is simply not true. There is no proof that 5G has any negative affect on health. And the symptoms that some of these claims state that 5G cause, are not symptoms of Coronavirus.
We’ve seen a number of people spread misinformation about this lately, and the newest one is Keri Hilson. Yes, that Keri Hilson. She tweeted over the weekend about how 5G causes Coronavirus, and that you can turn off 5G by disabling LTE. Which that right there makes no sense, since they are two different technologies. But Hilson seems to think that because China launched its 5G network in November 2019, that it caused the Coronavirus, which we started seeing pop up in China on December 31, 2019.
Hilson also has a picture of an article about Bill Gates warning there will be a pandemic likely coming from China. Now it doesn’t take a genius to figure this one out. Considering how bad the environment is in China, a pandemic originating there isn’t a surprise. And given all of the work Gates and his foundation have done in the past few decades with healthcare, he definitely knows what he’s talking about.
Hilson isn’t the only person that has said that 5G could be harmful to our health, but it did not cause the Coronavirus Pandemic. The reason why many believe that 5G is harmful to our health is because it uses lower spectrum than 4G and even 3G did. It makes sense, but with all the testing and all the 5G networks that are already deployed around the world, it hasn’t caused any health issues.
5G causing the Coronavirus Pandemic is just more misinformation being spread like wild fire
Misinformation, or as the President likes to call it, „fake news” has been a real problem in the US and around the world for the past few years. It really came to light with the 2016 Presidential Election, but this isn’t something that’s new. With everyone being on the Internet all the time, and reading up on „news”, they are libel to come across something that is not completely true.

Then the person shares that on Facebook, or Twitter, and then it gets reshared by others, and eventually it goes viral. People will believe this misinformation, especially if it looks like it comes from a somewhat reputable source.
This round of misinformation came from a Facebook post that has been shared over 2.6K times. Now it’s not as viral as some other posts we’ve seen on Facebook, but it has been seen by quite a few users. And there’s no telling how many people will believe this. Facebook has since marked it as „false information”, thankfully. But it was up on its site for a few days before it was marked as false information.
This is why it’s important to do a bit of research before you share or believe something you see shared on social media. And only really share content from sites you trust, that don’t have a habit of spreading misinformation. We here at Android Headlines do plenty of research before we post a story. As we want to make sure it is real and not fake – which happens a lot with leaks of unreleased devices. So you can trust anything that we post here on the site.
Let’s clear up some of these myths about 5G and Coronavirus
There are a number of myths about 5G and Coronavirus that have been debunked. And FullFact put out a really detailed list of these myths and explained why they are incorrect.
One of the most popular myths is „the new Coronavirus is actually the impact of 5G exposure”. That is not true. Coronavirus is a virus and there is no evidence that 5G is harmful to people’s health. Which is exactly what we have said already.
Another myth claims that symptoms of COVID-19 include „nausea, hair loss, bone marrow damage”. This is also incorrect, as the symptoms of Coronavirus are actually fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. None of which are mentioned in this myth.
One last myth about Coronavirus, which just sounds really dumb, but people are believing it. „Bill Gates created the new Coronavirus and a vaccine for it.” That’s incorrect too, surprise surprise. „The Bill Gates and Melinda Gates Foundation has funded a research institute that has a patent to a different Coronavirus. Coronavirus is a large category of viruses that include the common cold, SARS and the new virus that causes COVID-19.
This is another reason why we say „you can’t believe everything you read on the internet”
We, and many other people say this all the time, but you „can’t believe everything you read on the internet” and this is a prime example of just that.
The reason for this is, because anyone can post anything on the internet. Unlike a newspaper, or a real news site like CNN (or yours truly), there’s nothing stopping people from writing something that is clearly inaccurate. And then publishing it on the internet for everyone to see.
We’ve been seeing false information like this creep up more and more in the past few years, and social media platforms are trying their best to police the content. But obviously it’s not really working. For instance, look at all of the myths we listed above, about 5G and the Coronavirus Pandemic. Some of them absolutely make zero sense. Like the one about the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The right thing to do here is to do a bit of research before you share something on a social media platform. To make sure it is accurate. And if you come across any posts that are spreading misinformation, do everyone a favor and „report” it. All of the social media platforms out there make it pretty easy to report these things.
Wrap Up
The skinny of this is, 5G did NOT cause the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Now we still aren’t entirely sure what did cause this pandemic. There have been a couple of different theories. Though, they did all originate from that wet market in Wuhan, China. Which is a place where Chinese can buy live animals to take home and cook. And we’re talking all sorts of animals, not just chicken and fish. But snakes, bats, and much more.
Any claim that says 5G is making us sick, or affecting our health, is untrue. There has been zero evidence of 5G making anyone sick. 5G might be new to the majority of us, but it has been in testing for almost a decade already. And it has also been available to the public for almost a year already. With Verizon first launching its 5G network last Spring.
Don’t forget, that you do need to make sure you wash your hands often. And for at least 20 seconds (or singing the Happy Birthday song twice). As well as making sure you couch into your elbow. If you think you have symptoms of Coronavirus, make sure to call your healthcare provider. Instead of heading to the hospital first. As that could cause more infections, and infections of people that are in the high-risk group for COVID-19.
