T-Mobile Closing 80% Of Its Retail Stores Until March 31, Due To Coronavirus

T-Mobile CEO, John Legere announced on Monday night that the carrier is closing 80% of its retail locations across the country, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
In a series of tweets on Monday night, Legere stated how this was an unprecedented time for the country. And the company is looking to keep its employees as well as its customers and the general public safe, amid this pandemic.
Which includes around 80% of its retail locations around the country through „at least” March 31.
Some locations will remain open to service customers emergency needs
T-Mobile is only closing 80% of its locations, as it wants to keep some stores open in case customers are in emergency need of something.
The carrier has distributed the remaining 20% of stores across the country, so that they would be within a 30-minute drive for most customers in each market. These stores will only be open for eight hours a day – from 10Am to 6PM local time.
T-Mobile also stated that it will only staff these remaining stores with workers who are willing to come in and support its customers. Employees will not be forced to come into work, over the next two weeks. T-Mobile had already spoken with employees and found out which ones are willing to come in, to help decide which stores to keep open.
The store locator on T-Mobile’s website has been updated with stores that are open. Making it easier for you to find out where the closest open T-Mobile store is. If you don’t need emergency help from T-Mobile, it’s going to be best to stay home and use the live chat, Twitter or call option for customer service.
Call centers are also going to be under-staffed
T-Mobile is practicing „social distancing” in its call centers as well. And adding more space between work stations. Which means that there will be fewer people working in the customer service department, during this pandemic.
So, just a friendly reminder that if you do need help from T-Mobile’s customer service, be nice to them. They are going to be short staffed and likely dealing with a lot of customers at once. Not to mention, wait times will likely be longer than usual too.
Customer service employees are still going to be paid, even if they need to stay home. T-Mobile wants those employees to stay home if they are feeling sick, or are in the high-risk group for the Coronavirus.
