Google Pixel 4a Box Leaks With Name And Rear Camera Design

Google is looking to release a more affordable Pixel 4, and the Pixel 4a box and packaging have now leaked with the phone name and rear camera design.
Google Pixel 4a box leaks with name and rear camera design
Two images shared by TechDroider from the source, the Google Pixel Community, reveal a few things. First, there’s the Google multi-colored „G” atop the front of the box with the phone name „Pixel 4a.” It makes sense for Google to release a more budget Pixel 4 as the company released a Pixel 3a last year. The phone’s rear camera setup, on the front of the box, shows a single rear camera and flash. Google’s box also comes with plastic packaging, standard when shipping phones.
A second photo reveals the box in question alongside other boxes. It shows the „Google” branding on the side of the box. It appears as though the box is not photoshopped, as it is being shown from a number of angles.
TechDroider says that the Pixel 4a is on its way. Usually, when phone boxes and names start appearing in the wild, it’s only a matter of time before an unveil.
Specs
The new box and packaging photos don’t reveal any on-box specs. And yet, the specs have been leaked by 9to5Google this week. The Pixel 4a will have a 5.81-inch OLED display (the same as the Pixel 3a) with a Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080p). The display will have a hole punch selfie camera (8MP). There’s only a single 8MP camera on the front of the Pixel 4a. There’s also a single rear camera (12.2MP) with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Rear camera video recording will see 1080p at 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps. 720p video recording will occur at 240fps. 4K video recording will offer 30fps. The 8MP front camera will offer only 1080p at 30fps.
Outside of cameras, there will be 6GB of RAM and two storage models (64GB/128GB). There will be 18W fast charging via USB-C but no wireless charging here. Wireless charging is a luxury Google is denying budget buyers once again. Other specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Adreno 618 GPU, Google’s Titan M chip for added security, and a 3,080mAh battery and Android 10 out of the box. And yes, for those who are wondering, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack for music lovers.
Pixel 4a XL packaging reveals what might have been
Source say that there’ll be no Pixel 4a XL announced this year. And yet, the idea was once a possibility that appears to have been scrapped later.
That seems to be the case from a leaked cover door on eBay. The product page is titled „For Google pixel 4a XL Replacement New Battery Back Cover Door.” The battery cover is selling for €17.88 (~$19.56 USD). The estimated delivery of the battery cover is between Thursday, April 23rd and Wednesday, June 24th. There is no Google „G” on the back of the device, just a rear-mounted fingerprint cutout. In contrast to the 4a, there appears to have been a dual camera on the XL model. At one point, the 4a XL might have been.
As of this point, there’s no way to verify the battery cover. Google could very well have had a Pixel 4a XL in the works, though there’s no way to know for sure. Google did reveal a Pixel 3a XL last year, so a Pixel 4a XL for this year wouldn’t have been farfetched. While the Pixel 4a will likely cost $399, the 4a XL could cost $499. Perhaps Google’s decision to hold off on the 4a XL, if not decide against releasing it altogether, has something to do with market perception of the most budget-friendly Pixel. If the battery cover is legitimate and has a release this year, Google could wait until a bit later to unveil a 4a XL model. And yet, it’s best to treat this, as everything else, with a grain of salt.
