Protective cases for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are now the subject of a new leak. Shared by prolific twitter tipster „Ice universe,” the cases are similar in design with a few notable exceptions. Despite being labeled as the Samsung Galaxy Note 20+ and Galaxy Note 20 in the image, these are allegedly for the Ultra and standard edition devices.
The design shows the cameras on the rear panel of the handset stacked along one edge, rather than centered. They’re also arranged vertically in a square-style camera bump. That’s as opposed to horizontally or individually as some other OEMs have taken to doing. The buttons are all aligned along that same edge.
The S Pen stylus cut-out shows that at the opposite side along the bottom edge of this smartphone. Right next to that are cutouts for the USB-C charging port and speaker grilles. Both of the cases are clear in color. And it isn’t immediately discernable whether they are official Samsung products or aftermarket from a third-party vendor.
Is this a rear or front-facing view of the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra?
Now, some speculation has been put forward regarding whether or not the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series protective cases leak shows the accessories from the front or back. This is almost certainly going to be a view from the back panel side of the cases.
That’s based on another recent leak, spotted on an official Samsung site in Russia. The leak shows the handset from the back, alongside its now-series-standard S Pen. In that image, the flagship takes on a „Mystic Bronze” coloration. But more importantly, the buttons and camera arrangements are clearly visible.
In those other images, the camera is placed on the left-hand side of the rear panel. That’s when facing the device from that side of the phone. The buttons are placed on that same edge, with no buttons visible on the opposing side. The design may not be the most logical. Especially since it seems to suggest users will be putting their fingers overtop the camera array in order to reach the volume rocker. But that’s where the cameras have been placed.
It’s also clear from the case leak that the S Pen stylus will be housed in the frame on the opposite side of the gadget. That means that when facing the front panel of the device, users will find the S Pen tucked in on the left-hand side.
Now, it’s also always possible that either of the design leak images, whether for the cases or the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series itself, is inaccurate. But the overall design does seem to line up.
Everything else is as would be expected
Among the biggest differences between the two cases is their size. But that’s not the only difference here, although none of the differences is necessarily shocking. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra case, for instance, shows a significant reduction in the overlap between the display panel and edges. That seems to align well with prior rumors. Especially those suggesting that at least one of the flagships might come with a flat panel.
The extra overlap would serve to provide added protection, covering the display bezels at least in part.
Perhaps more pertinently, that aligns well with leaks suggesting the most powerful of the gadgets, the Ultra variant, would ship with even more curvy panels than previous iterations.
