Moto G 5G Plus Goes Official, Brings 5G To Masses

Motorola has officially unveiled the Moto G 5G Plus. It is the first 5G smartphone under the affordable Moto G series. The Moto G 5G Plus also packs competitive specifications, making it one of the best mid-range smartphones in the market.
On the front, it sports a 6.7-inch CinemaVision display with Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. This is also the largest display we have ever seen on a Moto G smartphone. It comes with a wide 21:9 aspect ratio and HDR10 support, making it perfect for media consumption.
Moto G 5G Plus Full Specifications
On the top left corner, there are two separate punch-hole cutouts for accommodating two selfie cameras. There is a 16MP primary selfie camera along with an additional 8MP ultrawide camera. The quad-camera setup on the rear features a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP camera for depth sensing.
Adjacent to the square camera module is the long vertical flash. The Moto G 5G Plus is powered by the 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform featuring Kryo 475 CPU, Adreno 620 GPU, and importantly Snapdragon X52 Modem. Since the chipset only supports sub-6GHz 5G, it won’t work with the carriers using the mmWave spectrum.
However, its different from the Snapdragon 765G offered with the Motorola Edge. With the 5000mAh battery, Motorola claims the Moto G 5G Plus to give up to two days of battery life. Moreover, it supports fast charging using the provided 20W TurboPower adapter. It even comes with NFC support for making contactless payments.
The Moto G 5G Plus measures 9mm in thickness and weighs at around 188 grams. It will be available in two storage options — 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. Though the device will offer close to stock Android experience, it will include My UX feature for customizing the user interface. Moreover, the power button on the right edge also serves as a fingerprint scanner.
Motorola will launch it tomorrow in Europe
We can also spot the dedicated Google Assistant button on the left side. There is even a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is missing on most of the newly launched smartphones. Though there is no IP certification, the device is said to be splash resistant.
Coming to the pricing, the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage will cost EUR 349 (approx. $395). The other version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at EUR 399 (approx. $451). The Moto G 5G Plus will be launching tomorrow in Europe.
It will also be made available in many more markets, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in the coming months. While the Moto G 5G Plus won’t be made available in the US, the company promised to launch a new 5G smartphone costing under $500 in North America this fall.
