Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Promo Video Leak Shows Watch Faces & Features

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 3 has all the features and watch faces users could want, based on a new video leak. The material, taking the form of a promotional video, was shared to Twitter by prominent tipster Evan Blass. And it’s just the latest in a string of leaks related to the new smartwatch from Samsung. As might be expected from the description above, it doesn’t center on design.
Instead, the promotional footage showcases some of the features users will see included with the watch. But there’s nothing too surprising there either. Messaging and calling on-watch are promoted, as are heart rate tracking, step counting, and other expected features.
The company is expected to launch no fewer than nine variants of the gadget. So the first of those features aren’t necessarily shocking. That’s accounting for LTE and Wi-Fi configurations, as well as various color schemas and size variances. The watch will reportedly arrive in both 41mm and 45mm versions.
The video puts a direct focus on watch faces too. Weather-focused and health-focused faces are shown, with relevant metrics highlighted without being too obtrusive. There are both minimal and complex designs, catering to the needs of a wide variety of users. As shown in the promotional video itself, the aesthetic can probably be best described as „refined.”
Why are there so many rotating animations in the Galaxy Watch 3 leak?
Throughout the video shared in the Galaxy Watch 3 leak, however, there is one other detail that may go unnoticed by some. Namely, transitions seem to be associated with gestures. The animations used to move from one display to the next slide in or out from the edges. Or, in several cases, rotate in or out.
The inclusion of those animations would seem to confirm earlier leaks suggesting strongly that Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 will feature a rotating bezel. That’s a physically-rotating bezel, for clarity. And that’s been slimmed down from previous releases in the series.
The toothed bezel, complete with number markings was originally shown by South Korea’s certification authority NRRA via its official website.
What that bezel does, exactly, remains less clear. It’s possible that those could be related to edge-based UI for health metrics and fitness. For instance, users may be able to rotate the bezel to move between those. Or, conversely, it may be the case that the gesture is used for deeper functionality such as call control or other system controls.
What else is already known about this smartwatch
One of the few details about this upcoming Samsung smartwatch that hasn’t been leaked is the processor that will be driving things. But it is expected from various certifications that Samsung will include 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage. That’ll be for both the 1.2-inch 41mm and 1.4-inch 45mm versions.
Both Tizen 5.5 watches will also be circular with a Gorilla Glass DX protective coating for the 360 x 360 resolution AMOLED display panel. Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS will be standard, as will Wi-Fi. LTE will be available at a higher cost and powered by a dedicated SIM slot, based on some leaks.
Regardless of which variant is bought, 5W wireless charging support is expected too. As are heart-rate monitoring, ECG, sleep tracking, blood pressure monitoring, and more health features. Those features and everything else will be powered by a 247mAh battery in the 41mm variant. The 45mm variant will house a 340mAh capacity battery.
In terms of value, the watches are said to start at around $400 and go as high as $600. With consideration for the included features and design, that seems to be a good value. And that’s without consideration for its MIL-STD-810G rating with IP68 certification for dust and 5 ATM water resistance. Samsung is predicted to unveil its watch sometime this month.
