HBO Max is looking to help viewers unwind with a celebrity-filled new series based on popular relaxation app Calm. Dubbed A World of Calm, the series will initially release 10 episodes, reports indicate.
A World of Calm presents the audience with immersive visuals from around the world, intended to be soothing. It joins those with narrations that it says are „scientifically-engineered” to soothe and calm viewers’ minds. And Narrations themselves will be accompanied by music that’s selected toward a similar purpose.
As noted above, each episode will feature top-billed voice talents. For instance, HBO Max lists the likes of Mahershala Ali, Idris Elba, Oscar Isaac, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Lucy Liu, Cillian Murphy, and Keanu Reeves. Episodes will run around 30-minutes in length.
For added production value, HBO indicates that the series will be co-produced by Calm and Nutopia. The latter of those is the same team behind National Geographics’ One Strange Rock.
What is Calm?
For clarity, the new series is being based on relaxation, meditation, and sleep aid app Calm. More specifically, on that app’s hugely popular Sleep Stories. Founded in 2012, Calm is no stranger to bringing in big-name celebrities. And it’s already arguably proven exceptionally effective in terms of selecting talent and helping users relax. In 2018, for instance, the app added Bob Ross to its roster for sleep stories.
Since its initial launch, the app has only grown and improved too. Among its more recent partnerships, Calm teamed up with Samsung. In fact, the latter company rolled out the app as part of a fitness-focused update for its smart TVs. So this isn’t the first time the app is making headway in the large screen sector either.
When is this Calm-based HBO Max Series set to arrive?
With regard to a launch date, at least for now, HBO Max hasn’t been forthcoming. That’s not just for an exact date either. The company hasn’t provided even a hint of when the app-based series will land. But the app is, of course, still available to download for free in the interim. So there’s no reason users can’t continue using that to relax until the new series arrives.
