There’s been another leak of the Samsung Galaxy M51 specs across multiple variants, reports citing tipster Ishan Agarwal indicate. The device specifications, reportedly confirmed by Mr. Agarwal, don’t point to standard budget phone fare either. Instead, the implication is that Samsung is not resting on its haunches when it comes to the fierce competition put forward by some of its OEM counterparts.
To begin with, both variants of the Samsung Galaxy M51 will be powered by a Snapdragon 730 chipset. Previous leaks have also pointed to an Infinity-O display with a FullHD+ resolution in a Super AMOLED format too. And that will present users with OneUI 2.1, exactly like the flagship-like A-series. One key difference though is the inclusion of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, likely to reduce costs.
But that SoC will be backed, the newest reports indicate, by a whopping 7,000mAh capacity battery. That’s more than double the size of some competitors and close to double the size of most smartphones in the bracket. 25W fast-charging will reportedly ensure that doesn’t take all day to charge up.
What else is 'known’ about the Samsung Galaxy M51?
Another set of specs allegedly confirmed by Mr. Agarwal is the cameras themselves. The forward-facing punch-hole camera placed at the top-left-hand corner will be a 32-megapixel snapper. Around the back of the handset, Samsung is said to be including a very un-budget-like quad-camera array.
The primary sensor is set to be a 64-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel snapper will be used for ultra-wide shots. Portrait snaps will be captured by a 5-megapixel camera. Another 5-megapixel snapper will be utilized for high-detail close-ups dedicated to macro shots.
A launch is expected in early September.
So what might be different than previously reported?
One potential discrepancy between the latest news and previous reports is the number of variants that will be made available. There have been reports of both a 6.5-inch and 6.67-inch panel. Mr. Agarwal reportedly says there will only be a 6.7-inch variant.
Additionally, the tipster indicates that there will be two versions in terms of RAM. Both handsets will ship with 128GB of storage, but users will be offered either 6GB or 8GB. It’s not immediately clear whether those will be region-dependent or offered everywhere.
The only remaining questions are how accurate the new leaks are. And what Samsung has done to keep this M-series device in the budget segment. Because the Galaxy M51 specs don’t appear to suggest a cheap phone by any stretch.
