ASUS Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro To Feature Nokia OZO Audio Processing

Nokia has revealed that the ASUS ZenFone 7 Series works with Nokia’s OZO Audio technology. As claimed in a company post, this should elevate „the audio capturing result to the new heights”.
GSM Arena reports that the devices come with three microphones to capture sound and advanced features in the camera app. The devices, therefore, have a number of features to optimise audio capturing which Nokia has outlined.
We thought we knew everything there is to know about the ZenFone 7 series. A recent marketing video gave us an in-depth look at the device. Almost all the specifications had also been revealed by this point.
Therefore, this audio reveal is interesting given its timing post the release of these devices. It is a slightly strange time to be finding out something potentially quite important.
ZenFone 7 series to come with Nokia audio processing
The press release noted that the ZenFone 7 series uses Audio 3D, Audio Focus, Audio Zoom and Audio Windscreen to optimise users sound experience.
Audio 3D enables users to capture natural, spatial sound recordings in a certain direction. Audio Focus works to suppress distracting noises from crowded areas. This works to focus just on the important sound you wish to capture. This, therefore, makes it perfect for capturing audio in any space.
Audio Zoom links to the visual zoom of the ZenFone 7 series’ camera. This allows users to amplify and identify sounds to correspond to the zoomed video. Finally, Audio Windscreen reduces wind distortion. The idea is to bring clarity of sound in any weather conditions.
Jyri Huopaniemi, Head of Technology Licensing, Nokia Technologies has commented on the move in glowing terms. He said, “We’re really excited to continue our collaboration with ASUS”. He also pointed out that this technology will enhance „user experience in recording, and providing a sharper, true-to-life audio perspective of the memories they capture using their ASUS devices”.
Bryan Chang, general manager, smartphone business unit at ASUS also made a statement on the news. He noted that „users really value audio quality, so we were pleased to work with Nokia to integrate their OZO Audio technology into the new ZenFone 7 Series”. He then went onto extol the virtues of this new technology for ASUS customers.
Overall, this looks like an exciting partnership between Nokia and the ASUS ZenFone 7 series to augment its audio capturing capabilities. These features, on the whole, sound innovative and useful to users if a little bit complex. However, this should improve as people become accustomed to them.
