Samsung To Strengthen Leadership In Global Smartphone Market

A report has indicated that Samsung will continue to lead the global smartphone market and likely strengthen that hold this year. As reported by Pulse News, Samsung will likely take advantage of the issues Huawei currently faces to achieve this.
Interestingly enough Huawei actually overtook Samsung as the largest smartphone maker during the pandemic. This was largely due to the fact that as China came out of lockdown the rest of the world went in. This resulted in Huawei being the largest smartphone maker in Q2.
However, as the western world comes out of lockdown that is all set to change. Huawei continues to face problems with U.S. restrictions which could see them drop out of the smartphone market altogether.
Global smartphone market expects a recovery
This report predicts the state of the global smartphone market in the future and indicates Samsung will take control worldwide. Market research firm Strategy Analytics (SA) said that overall the smartphone shipment would fall about 11 per cent on year.
However, this has been revised from about 15 per cent in an earlier prediction Overall, the report expects a recover which will see the market grow by 9 per cent next year.
This will be due to a durable switch to 5G and foldable phones driving the market forwards. By 2022 the market should recover to 2019 levels predicts the report.
Samsung to strengthen hold atop global smartphone market

Samsung will continue to hold onto its year on year market leadership if this report is correct.
The report predicts the company will make shipment of 265 million units, resulting in a market share of 21 per cent.
The report expects Apple to overtake Huawei into second place around the turn of the year. This will see Apple gain around a single per cent in market share.
Huawei, the report predicts, is on a downward spiral due to the restrictions placed upon it. The report predicts that when its U.S. chip inventory runs out the company will lose a big chunk of its market share.
In terms of how this will look practically, the report suggests Apple and Samsung may replace Huawei’s flagship models. Whilst brands such as Xiaomi and Vivo fill the market need for low and medium and high-end models.
The likely demise of Huawei will be of great benefit to its overseas rivals. How exactly that void is filled could be a very interesting story to follow over the coming weeks and months. However, it does look like Samsung will continue to lead the way in the global market.
