Fossil today has announced its latest smartwatch set, called the Gen 5E.
This new round of watches is everything you love about the original Gen 5 devices, but with some updates to hardware and overall build and style.
The Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch is also not just one watch. It’s actually an update of all the Gen 5 watches for both men and women. All Gen 5E smartwatches will also be fairly affordable compared to some of the other smartwatches out there running on Wear OS.
None of the Fossil Gen 5E watches are available just yet, but they will be available for purchase later this month. You can however already pre-order them.
The Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch comes in multiple sizes for men and women
One of the big changes with the Gen 5E compared to the Gen 5 are the sizing options.
Fossil made the Gen 5E available in multiple sizes for both men and women. So you can really get a watch that fits your personal style perfectly. Not hot on the smaller watches? Not a problem. You can pick up a Gen 5E in either 42mm and 44mm sizes.
And there are three styles to choose from for men, or four styles to choose from for women. Other than the sizes, the Gen 5E only comes with the most essential features. Meaning it does actually have less features than the standard Gen 5.
In the fact the „E” in Gen 5E actually stands for essential.
You’ll get a few less features with these watches
The size options aren’t the only things that are different here. Fossil also took out a couple of features that you’d see in the Gen 5.
As noted, the E in Gen 5E stands for essential. So Fossil only implemented the most essential features for these models. For example, the Gen 5E doesn’t come with an altimeter, an ambient light sensor, or a compass. It also has 4GB of storage as opposed to 8GB of storage.
So those are things worth keeping in mind when considering which watch to pick up. If you’re planning to pick up a watch in the first place.
GPS is also tethered and the crown button can’t be rotated. The Gen 5E does however come with the wellness features that were pushed to Gen 5 watches in a software update earlier this year. So you aren’t missing out on those.
All Fossil Gen 5E smartwatches will retail for $249 and pre-orders are available now, with the watches releasing on October 25. They can be snagged from Amazon or from Fossil’s own website.
