The Indian smartphone market is seeing some homegrown players make a return to the big picture. Lava, an Indian brand, has now introduced the world’s first 'made-to-order’ customizable Android smartphone.
We first saw Micromax, which was one of the biggest smartphone vendors in the world in its prime, came back to the scene with its Micromax In series phones.
And now, it seems like the Indian smartphone giants want to cash in the anti-China sentiments and launch homegrown smartphones for the people of the country.
In fact, the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative announced by the Honorable PM of India, has also a lot to do with all these stir in the Indian smartphone market.
Coming back to the new MyZ and Zup series from Lava, these are totally 'Made in India’ phones. Moreover, the Lava MyZ series is a 'Made-to-Order’ device, which can be customized as per the user’s needs on the official Lava website.
Along with the customizable MyZ series, Lava has also announced another unique smartphone lineup called the Zup series. This allows owners to upgrade the RAM and ROM of their devices within the first year of purchase.
Lava MyZ can be customized in 66 unique ways
Talk about some specs, Lava MyZ comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display. It features a 20:9 aspect ratio and a water-drop notch that houses the selfie camera.
Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor. Users can configure this SoC with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
In the camera department, Lava is offering two choices: a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup and a slightly more impressive 13MP + 5MP + 2MP triple-camera setup. For the front camera, users have the option to choose between an 8MP or a 16MP sensor.
Some other important specs of Lava MyZ include a 5000mAh battery and a USB Type-C port. The phone is also touted to have „Military Grade” durability.
The Lava Zup series allows Z6, Z4, and Z2 owners to upgrade their phone within one year of purchase. These devices will be available via the Lava service centers spread across the country, starting from January 26.
Owners can upgrade their Lava Zup smartphones by visiting a Lava service center and paying a nominal amount for the upgrade.
Lava also launched its first fitness smart band called BeFIT. The BeFIT band will be available for a price of INR2,699 across online and offline channels.
Lava MyZ will be available for purchase starting January 11 from INR6,999 ($96). But the Lava Zup series will start at INR6,999 and go up to INR9,999 ($137).
