How To Make Your Echo Listen For Specific Sounds

It’s pretty amazing what Alexa can do. But did you know that Amazon Alexa is able to listen for specific sounds? It’s true. Alexa can listen for a few different sounds right now – we expect that to improve in the coming months and years though. And since it is part of Alexa routines, it can also set off other things when that sound is heard. Like when it hears your dog bark, it can alert you and allow you to drop-in on your Echo Show to see what’s happening with your dog.
It’s a feature that not everyone is going to use, but is very important to utilize. Here’s how you can use this feature.
What sounds can Alexa listen for?
Currently, Alexa can listen for a couple of different sounds. Mainly, a dog barking, a baby crying, snoring or coughing. Unlike Nest, which can listen for glass breaking as well, Alexa is not yet able to do that.
This makes it a really good option for those that are wanting to keep an eye on their dog when they go back to work. As you’ll be able to notice when your dog is barking. Thanks to Alexa being able to listen for specific sounds.
It’s also a great way to keep an eye on your newborn while they sleep in another room. As you can be alerted when they start crying. And with the drop-in feature on the Echo Show, you can quickly take a look and see what’s going on with your baby.
