It appears that Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy Fold successor in the second quarter of this year, and it’ll be complete with an S Pen.
This latest leak comes from Max Weinbach, who has been in the know lately with a lot of Samsung’s upcoming devices. Leaking a lot of information about the Galaxy S20 series and now the next Galaxy Fold.
Now, Weinbach is only saying that the new Galaxy Fold will be unveiled in the second quarter of this year. The specs that are given come from other reports that we’ve seen recently. These include a 8-inch display, 108-megapixel camera (like the Galaxy S20 Ultra), as well as the Snapdragon 865 and 5G support. There’s also going to be an S Pen coming with the Galaxy Fold, which is a really good idea for Samsung.
S Pen coming to the Galaxy Fold is a brilliant idea
The S Pen is great for bigger display devices like tablets and the Galaxy Fold, because it allows you to do all sorts of things. Those that own the current Galaxy Fold say that the device is in desperate need of a S Pen. And with that 8-inch display, it’s going to really come in handy.
Not to mention the fact that Samsung really wants to get a S Pen into everyone’s hands. Adding it to its Chromebooks, as well as its high-end tablets lately.
While it is a stylus, the S Pen is much more than just that, these days. It also works really well for taking notes, drawing and even as a remote. Since Samsung added Bluetooth support in 2018.
Expect the new Galaxy Fold to be more expensive
The original Galaxy Fold was more expensive than most smartphones, because the tech inside was all new. Phones didn’t use hinges, or have a second display, or a folding display, etc. Which made it pretty expensive. Even though Samsung is about to jump onto the second-generation of the Galaxy Fold, don’t expect it to be cheaper.
In fact, expect it to be more expensive.
Not only is Samsung working to make this a high-end smartphone, but it is also going to have 5G support. That’s going to add to the price tag too. But it’s not surprising that it’ll be 5G, since most of the Galaxy S20’s that Samsung will be selling are 5G. In fact, in the US, it is only selling 5G Galaxy S20 smartphones.
It’s expected to release in the second quarter, so it is possible that we see it teased at Unpacked next month.
