In a new report by WinFuture, all the technical details and specifications regarding the recently showcased Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is now available.
Note that during the recently concluded UNPACKED event, Samsung unveiled a bunch of products. It includes the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Buds Live, and Galaxy Tab S7 series.
However, along with all these products, Samsung also unveiled or probably previewed its next-gen Galaxy Z Fold 2 foldable smartphone.
The phone is the second iteration of the previously launched Galaxy Fold. Moreover, now all the specifications which we surely know you might have had your eyes on are finally revealed.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be a 5G standard phone as it packs the Snapdragon 865+ processor. In fact, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 devices sold in Europe will also be powered by the Snapdragon 865+ instead of the Exynos 990.
This is a welcome change as the Exynos 990 is the same processor that you get on the Galaxy S20 series released earlier this year. So, if a customer is paying $2,000+, then you would expect top of the line specs from your device.
Well,
Galaxy Z Fold 2 will sport 120HZ in the inside display and 60Hz on the outside
We have talked about this earlier and it seems like Samsung is going ahead with it. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will sport variable refresh rate displays.
Meaning that the display on the inside will have the buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate while the outer display is sadly stuck at 60Hz. Though it might not sound like a big issue, it would have kept the transition smoother when switching from the outer display to the inner one.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 specifications reveal that the outside display is now bigger at 6.2 inches and rocks a remarkable 2260 x 816 pixels resolution. When folded open, the inner display carries a size of 7.6 inches with a resolution of 2208×1768 pixels.
The company claims to have used a foldable OLED panel, which they like to call ultra-thin glass. The durability, well that’s still something which we would not recommend for testing.
The giant screen will allow up to three apps to run simultaneously, giving more room for the multi-taskers. More importantly, the hinge mechanism is upgraded and now it has less gap between the screen when folded.
Noticeably, this will prevent extra debris to pass through. The camera system is also now upgraded. The phone now sports a triple-camera setup. It houses a 12MP triple-lens with different apertures.
While on the front, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a 10 MP selfie shooter, which is housed inside a punch hole instead of the huge notch in the previous Fold.
Snapdragon 865+ in place of the Exynos 990 for the models in Europe as well
As we have mentioned above, the European models will also get the Galaxy Z Fold 2 powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset.
According to the leaked Galaxy Z Fold 2 specifications, it is paired with 12GB of DDR5 top-notch RAM. The device offers up to 256 GB of onboard storage with UFS 3.1 for faster data transfer.
The storage can be expanded via a microSD card and it has a separate nanoSIM card slot. The battery on the phone is topped at 4,500 mAh, which seems a bit less, as it has two displays.
It will be interesting to see how the battery pans out in daily usage. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 supports fast charging at 25W via the USB-C port. The phone also has wireless charging support and Wireless PowerShare function as well.
Besides, the Fold 2 has the AKG powered stereo speakers and the fingerprint reader is now placed on the side of the device. The phone comes with Android 10 out of the box with Samsung’s latest One UI 2.5.
For the elite, a Thom Browne edition is also said to be in works that will carry a staggering price. The details are not out yet.
