In the recent past, Google has been pushing quite a few features for its Google Photos app. And the recent APK teardown by XDA reveals that some strings in Google Photos 5.18 will bring premium editing features.
Notably, these Google Photos 5.18 premium editing features would be available for the Google One members. This is some big news for Google Photos users as premium editing features would negate the need of using a third-party editing app.
There are some strings on the latest Google Photos 5.18 app that shed light on the editing features. Moreover, these strings confirm that Google will be bringing the photo editor in the upcoming release.
Note that APK teardown post by XDA, predict and spot the features that may arrive in the future release of the app. However, it is possible that features spotted in the APK teardown may not arrive with the app.
Apparently, Google Photos 5.18 started rolling out for the users recently via the Google Play Store. Interestingly, the changelog of the update only mentions the inclusion of some bugfixes.
But the teardown of the APK reveals that some premium editing features are under the sleeves of the latest Google Photos APK. Take a look at the strings that highlight premium features;

Google Photos 5.18 app strings highlight preprocessing features and new filters
The strings found in the Google Photos 5.18 teardown shows new prompts. This prompt will alert the users about the premium editing features. Besides, urging them to take a Google One membership.
The new prompt reads as, „As a Google One member, you get access to extra editing features”, „Get extra editing features with a Google One membership”, „Unlock this feature and more with a Google One membership”, and „Unlock more editing features and {storage amount} of storage with a Google One membership.”
However, these prompts do not mention what are all the premium editing features that Google Photos will be getting with the upcoming release.
There is some preprocessing suggestion also spotted in the teardown of Google Photos. These preprocessing suggestions Dynamic, HDR, and Vivid.

Next, the strings also suggest the arrival of new filters to the app. These are meant specifically for letting the users edit the sky. There are a total of 6 filters.
These filters include Afterglow, Airy, Ember, Luminous, Radiant, and Stormy. We expect these filters to let the users replace the sky with included presets.

<string name=”photos_photoeditor_skypalette_suggestion_airy”>Airy</string>
