With the latest Feature Drop, Google Pixel phones can also take screenshots instantly, just like Samsung and other phones. Pixel phones are known to get some Pixel-specific features every now and then.
The latest feature now enables the traditional way of taking a screenshot on a smartphone. After installing the latest December 2020 security patch and Feature Drop, you simply need to long-press both the power and volume down buttons in order to take a screenshot on Pixel phones.
Notably, this button combination is what most smartphones make use of for taking screenshots. During the past few years, Google has implemented several tweaks to improve the screenshot taking capabilities on Android.
Personally, taking a screenshot via long-pressing both the power and volume down buttons is pretty convenient. In fact, this process is almost instant as well.
Once you press the button combo, in a matter of milliseconds your phone takes a screenshot. Although it may result in some accidental shots, it is still a smoother process to capture a screenshot.
Capturing screenshots comes in handy if you come across something informative and want to share that with your friends. You can simply take a screenshot and share it.
And with the introduction of this new screenshot taking feature, Google Pixel phones users can also take instant screenshots.
The December 2020 security patch started rolling out on Pixel devices yesterday
Google started rolling out the December 2020 security patch for Pixel devices, starting yesterday. It’s rolling out for the Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5.
Moreover, this latest security patch started rolling out along with the Pixel Feature Drop. Along with some handy features, the latest update also fixes 13 issues and 33 vulnerabilities.
The Pixel Drop Feature brought in several features to the Pixel phones. For instance, Adaptive Charging preserves battery health by controlling the charging speed.
Then the Pixel Drop Feature brought Adaptive Battery improvements, for Pixel 5 and 4a 5G. Other features include Hold for Me call waiting and Extreme Battery Saver to save that extra bit of juice on your phone.
And the screenshot feature is among one of them. Apparently, as per 9To5Google, the feature captures the screenshots at the same speed as that of Samsung or iPhone.
You may call it Google’s way of coming in line with the competition. But as for our take, it is one nifty feature that Google Pixel phones did not have previously. However, with the latest update, it gets one of the solid quality-of-life tweaks.
