Rejoice! Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ owners, because as per Sammobile, the Korean OEM is now seeding the latest March 2021 security update for the 2018 duo.
Samsung has a wide range of smartphones. And delivering the latest security patches or Android OS update could be a pretty lengthy task.
However, the company has proven its mettle and released the latest security updates as well as the latest Android 11 updates for its devices right on time.
About 4-5 years ago, it would have been pretty weird to say this statement, but now, I would definitely say other smartphone brands should learn how to deliver regular and timely updates from Samsung.
Even the likes of OnePlus are still struggling to deliver timely security and Android 11 updates, even with a small portfolio of phones. On the other hand, Samsung is constantly pushing for new updates for its devices.
Notably, the international models of the Galaxy S9 and S9+, powered by Exynos 9810, are receiving the latest March 2021 security update. The devices were also lucky to receive the first two security patches of the year.
Samsung has not only kept the security patch level up to date of Galaxy S9 and S9+, but it has also received improvements and new features with One UI 2.5 based on Android 10.
The March 2021 security update for Galaxy S9 & S9+ arrives with build FUB3
Talking about the update, it arrives with firmware version G96xFXXSFFUB3. It is quite amusing to see a three-year-old duo receiving the latest security patch.
Since the update is purely incremental and just bumps the security patch level to the latest March 2021, there are no new features included with it.
Just like other security patches from the OEM, this update brings bug fixes and stability improvements to the table. This means that the update fixes some security vulnerabilities.
Unfortunately, we do not have an official changelog for this update at the moment. If you own a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ Exynos model smartphone, then you should receive an update notification on your device.
But the update is rolling out gradually, meaning it will take some time to be available for everyone. Good thing is that you can also manually check for the update.
For that, head over to „Settings”. Then you need to go to „System updates.” From there, tap the „Download and install” option. The downloading and installation of the update will begin if a new update is available.
