Samsung has quite a busy few weeks, with the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, along with the new Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatches. That is not keeping the company away from releasing the latest September 2021 security update for the Galaxy S20 series.
Yes! We are just a few days into September month and the Korean smartphone giant has already released the latest security update for the Galaxy S20 series.
Do note Galaxy S20 series smartphones aren’t the first devices from Samsung that are receiving the September 2021 security update. Prior to Galaxy S20 devices, Galaxy S20 FE and Samsung 2020 foldables have already picked up the update.
Now, it is time for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra to get the taste of the latest security patch. As always, this is purely an incremental update and does not pack any new features for the devices.
However, it is a pretty crucial one as it bumps the security patch level to September 2021, and brings new bug fixes and patches for several vulnerabilities related to security and privacy. Besides, the usual system stability and performance improvements are something you shouldn’t miss out on with this update.
The Galaxy S20 September security update is live for users in Europe
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S20 September security update is live for users in some parts of Europe. In the coming days, it is expected to reach other remaining parts of Europe and the world as well.
It arrives with firmware version G98xxXXSADUH5 and is rolling out via OTA in batches. So, not all the Galaxy S20 series devices will pick up the update at once.
The good thing is you can manually check for the update by heading over to Settings. Then click on the Software update menu and hit the Download and install button.
Just make sure that you are downloading the update on a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to avoid installation errors.
If a new update is detected, your device will show you the notification. On the other hand, if the update is not live for your region, then you probably have to wait for a few more days.
Samsung is currently preparing for the Android 12 One UI 4.0 beta program for the Galaxy S21 series. Although there is no information on when the Android 12 beta program will begin, it is a piece of good news, as Galaxy S20 series owners will be the first in line to receive the Android 12 beta update.
